LISTEN TO THE KIDS!
We live in a time where kids have access to MASSIVE quantities of music. With it easier to experience inspiration, and kids as young as 13 able to get their hands on production software, more young creatives have been given the opportunity to create than ever before. In 2015 you have the ability to experience the next Bob Dylan, Tiesto, or Jay-Z from the time their a kid and watch them progress through adulthood. Its so important we encourage the kids to keep creating. The COE Collective has gathered a few young artists too watch out for.
Dan Porcaro
At 15 years old, Dan has already begun to fully develop a sound. With an older brother and friends tied to the EDM world, Dan has access to one of the most important things a young artist can receive...support. The Long Island native operates as both a producer and a business man which you can see by looking at his Soundcloud. Securing collaborations and small record supported releases, Dan is truly a testament to what talented and driven individuals are able to accomplish in this day and age.
Kyle Hughes
This weekend I saw a 17 year old shutdown Pacha's main floor. Pretty cool stuff. Easily the most popular artist featured here, Kyle Hughes reps New Jersey to the fullest. While the kid has releases with Mad Decent thats only a small part of his come up because in EDM its cosigns that drive someones popularity. Kyle has gotten play from major players including Diplo, Carnage, David Guetta, and 4B. Soundcloud is wack as fuck and took down his remixes but you can find a good amount of them on Youtube. I only hung out with the dude at pacha for a minute before he had to legally exit the club but good shit happens to good people so i have a feeling we will see this dude around.
Late June
Mysterious, genreless producer, Late June hails from New Zealand. I'm actually not even confident about the gender of Late June. All I know after talking to them is they are 19 years old and their soundcloud plays like a cohesive album that Earl Sweatshirt could easily rap on top of. Each song coming across with grey undertones and a generally cloudy, "about to rain" type of feeling. Each instrumental stands on its own two legs and Late June masterfully fills space with powerful bass and synth play that you often feel from a more veteran producer.
Dustin Hill
14 year old rapper/producer that looks and sounds like a grown ass man. To be honest I am still so blown away by how young and talented this kid is that I barely believe it. His voice and lyrics are laid back and allow his tracks to come off as effortless which is often what separates a "soundcloud rapper" from a rapper. This dude is the real deal and if you listen through his soundcloud reminding yourself HES FUCKING 14 its hard not to get excited for where he could be heading. Cheers to Dustin, I low key hope he starts a massive Boca Raton hip hop scene.
Stro
I have been following Astro aka Astronomical kid aka Stro since we was 14. He was on the X factor in 2011 and I found him very interesting. At the time he was about 14 and had a confidence about him that was so New York it hurt. Since then, Stro has taken time to work on his craft. Over time he has perfected his voice and flow and at 18 years old seems ready to start making very real moves within a lane similar to Joey Badass. I actually am surprised the two have yet to link up considering Stro's presumed relationship with Statik Selektah (he is on the What Goes Around album.) Im going to only post his most recent work here but I do encourage you to check out his progression up to now. You don't get to see that with just anyone.
