Kush The Great: Intro and His Mini Playlist
Thank you internet.
I came across an artist (from Jersey...of course) named Kush The Great. someones retweet of a tweet or however kids find music now...he had a track called Million Dollar Dab that was intriguing.
In seconds I was addicted. Digging through his soundcloud you start to discover the artist that Kush The Great is. Song to song rapping and singing excellent hooks over sounds that are not comparable to that many artists. The man is a creative, no doubt about it and seemingly trying something different which i will always support.
(when he does the 08 lil wayne flow i lost it on this.)
Its important to note that on top of rapping and writing, he produces and engineers his music. In fact after reaching out to him he let me know that he was currently cleaning up his new project called Digital Romance.
Outside of the tracks on that, Kush said he wasnt listening to much outside the tracks below. I tossed his notes on next to them. take a listen. Check out Kush the Great on Soundcloud, Twitter, and here again soon.
[Ballet by Smino ft Bari Allen (prod. by Monte Booker)
A good friend of mine put me onto this ill ass producer, Monte Booker, so I checked out his soundcloud and ran into this dude named Smino. I first heard the joint they collabed on called Kolors, which is FIRE! Then after that i stumbled across this one, Ballet. Smino's flow over this futuristic beat is an insane combo. I went nuts the first time I heard it and had to play it back, instantly. This is definitely gets played at least twice a day.
[The Usual by Toro Y Moi]
Off top, this has been the first song of the daily playlist for the past week or so. The vibe it gives off is crazy, it's like an old ass horror flick. So effortless yet so complex. The random snare roll is really what gets me though. And then those down-pitched vocals singing in the back are fuckin tight! Toro's a genius man.
[SKRT by Kodak Black]
My visual homie, DoloFilmz put me on to this one a while back. It's such a chill, "fuck you bitch" vibe [haha] very trill. Great for night rides in my hoopty. And I mean, it's a catchy ass track. I catch myself singing the hook sometimes like "ayyy lmao"
