The 80s was an interesting time for music. Come to think, it seems like just about anyone I have ever talked to that never experienced them, feels like they were there in another life or at least belong there in some way, shape, or form. I revel in that irony... to the point where sometimes a slight grin appears on my face and cannot help but feel the same. This feeling of belonging is illustrated by the title of the playlist, "Syncytium of Love", with syncytium being a science term derived from Greek meaning "together" and Love being a theme central to the culture. Take it from a John Hughes movie. Overall, this playlist tries to capture the essence of the 80s despite these songs being all from the turn of this century. It meanders its way from some thumping ballads, quirky exploratory syth tracks, and those with lyrics and vocals that are so obvious yet soft to the ears. Overall, the goal in mind was to leave you, the listener, etched with catchy melodies, classic drum patterns far more simple and to the point than current house music and arpeggiators reverberating within your heart reminiscing to a particular memory, emotion, or experience in your life. That is essentially what the 80s was about, even though I was never there. Big thanks to Ronnie (Ronaissance) on this. As always, there are plenty of tracks missing, but the beauty of that is that they are for me to discover.....Enjoy.
