Wiki - Lil' Me Album Drop Thoughts
Wanted a pic of how small this venue was. Idk who the hell is on this stage tho.
I saw Wiki live at a small venue in Hamden, Connecticut called The Space December 3rd 2013. I was attending the concert to check out an artist named King Krule that I had become obsessed with. My friend Joe and I managed to sneak in early, smoke with Krule and his band, and briefly wish best of luck to Ratking. When I passed Wiki and said "Good luck." he looked me in my face and said "I dont need luck n****, I'm from New York." As he walked away I was a little confused with how aggressive he said it and just as I was trying to decide if I hated or loved him, Wiki turned around and said "Thank you tho."
Patrick Morales aka Wiki is the "leader" of sorts to the group RatKing. Their debut album So It Goes was a gritty homage to the New York hip hop legacy with a blatant twist between the old school and where Ratking would like to take the sound. When Wiki was featured on Earls last album I Don't Like Shit and I Don't Go Outside, he was introduced to a wider crowd that was bound to fall in love with his word play and flows.
Wiki is important, and in the art world that "important" ambiance radiates off someone like Wiki. Over the past three years he has surrounded himself with creatives. He has close ties to monster producers like Alchemist, MadLib, Harry Fraud, Sporting Life, Yung Gutted and many more. He has linked with relatively small New York fashion labels (LetterRace and The Good Company) and creators to create some of the coolest merch and music videos in all of hip hop. He has collaborated with only who he fucks with and that has helped make it clear that Wiki doesnt rap to become a superstar or a meme, Wiki raps cause he has to.
