RIP David Bowie: One of Music's Primary Colors

Woke up to find that David Bowie had passed away. I knew his birthday had been the other day, I knew his album released last week, I've seen Labyrinth, I know his classics, but if I told you his music spoke to me since I was young... I would be lying. I'm not sure I ever fully "got" everything that Bowie was in the musician sense.

GASP! You cant say you didn't fully "get" something! Its 2016! Fake it!

That being said, I did fully understand his value in creativity and his IMPORTANCE to almost all musical or artistic cultures post his emergence. When I call David Bowie one of "musics primary colors" I mean that whether the serving is small or large, David Bowie has inspired sound and visuals for 50 years. That is fucking incredible. He is an undeniably impressive creative force and I wanted to share some of the music that sampled David Bowie and was born from the color he gave to the music industry.

David Bowie - Fame

nas diss song

David Bowie - Soul Love

RUFF DRAFT. http://stonesthrow.com/jdilla // http://itunes.com/jdilla This track was recorded in 2003, but was released only as a snippet on the original single LP version of Ruff Draft because of time constraints. When Stones Throw reissued Ruff Draft in 2007, they went back to the master tapes and found this full-length version of the song, plus "Wild" and alternate versions of the Ruff Draft intro & outro.

David Bowie - Win

Great song. "Debra," by the band "Beck", off the album "Midnite Vultures." (1999). Great album. Good live version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auJZvKYh2rA Debra is Dexter's step-sister, but that has nothing to do with this song. I wonder if they'll get together in Season 7...

David Bowie - Crystal Japan
