Days After TLOP: The Playlist

Kanye dropped an album and everyone is either furious or enlightened. Crazy how art is able to do that to people collectively.

I've been caught up in a bit of a whirlwind the last week and a half. COE guessed Kanye's Album Title and I cant really talk about much but, we got to see the fashion show live and hang out at the MSG aux cord party for a bit and it was really special. For most of the people involved in COE, Kanye is very important, so this moment was one we will hold real close for a long time.

I have so many feelings towards the negativity towards art that has been spreading like wildfire for the past few weeks but I really don't know how to verbalize it. I've tried and failed a few times and honestly I'm running out of energy.

Basically. . . start talking about things that you actually like more often than you talk about things you hate or are offended by. Promote more shit. Everything an artists makes is a reflection of an emotion within them. To hear someones emotion and rip it to pieces is not fair and makes no sense. We can argue who deserves awards, or whats better than what in your personal opinion, but I will not discuss what is bad and what is good. That's not how this works.

We all got way too comfortable on the internet and started to think that when someone liked a song/movie/performance that we didn't like, we had to let them know. That isn't true. The truth is nobody cares about what you have to say when it involves sentiments like "she looks like a whore" or "hes an idiot" or "this is so fucking bad why do you like this." Nobody really even cares when you are saying nice things either, but I think we can agree that sharing your positive opinions doesn't make the world a  miserable place and god knows we need to be heard somehow.

Here are some tunes I like this week. If you don't like them, write it down on a piece of paper and send it nowhere because I do not fucking care, ok? I'm on an Ultralight Beam and you negative people are all really hurting my soul.

Why Do You Always Want to Take Away My Fun? Picked up my guitar I start to scream and shout But you turned on the radio just to drown me out I know I'm not too good But you could humor me some Why do you always want to take away my fun? My buddy calls me up Says let's go get a beer But you've been keeping track of every drink that I've had this year I know there's been a lot But I've enjoyed every one Why do you always want to take away my fun? I remember I was free Cruising across the land But you traded in my motorcycle for a minivan I forgave you though Because what's done is done Why do you always want to take away my fun? Why do you always want to take away my fun?

"Days Keep" is the debut single off of Dante DeFelice's upcoming full-length album entitled "Cassette" due out the end of March. Well the Sun was sitting right Burning bright across the sky On this little plot of land Illuminating the whole neighborhood Well it’s hard not to fall out of love With the one you met in your younger years But now you’re fashioned in Looser skin and a much wiser mind So nervous to stray from the times That’s why you had your kids to keep you hip Days keep rolling in To each other, while others begin Seasons drift and float by We’re waving our hand to this current lifetime But we practice this at each days end Knowing we will awake again The mosquito landed right On your skin and took a bite Well it’s just cause you were born With sweet blood in your stream And all these photographs cannot lie You for sure have your, your Grandmas eyes Past down through centuries Through all the females in your family Well she’s way mature for her age Aren’t we all eager to flip the page And call that coin in the air To determine fate it’s heads or tails Well the Sun was sitting right Burning bright across the sky On our little family While we watched our kids, splash their cousins in That plastic baby pool Oh it’s so eerie to come full circle On this little plot of land While we held each other’s hands Just like those basement kids We used to be watching those old movies But we somehow blinked our eyes And now we’re fashioned in Parental skin Written, Recorded and Performed by Dante DeFelice in Marlboro, NY Mastered by Jesse Barki in Lancaster, PA Photograph by Sarah J. Berman
